How To Respond

We make choices everyday. Everyday we choose to wake up, every night we choose to go to bed. We choose what we will wear, and we choose what we will eat. One of the most important choices we take for granted, is how we respond.

When we are trapped in a terrible situation, we feel like we have no way out. We believe we have no choice but to give up. But why is that so? No one is forcing us to feel heartache or pain, or fear. In fact, the Bible clearly tells us that we have not been given a spirit of such things. God did not create us with a spirit of fear. When we choose to feel afraid or abandoned, we are choosing to give up and give in to the enemy.

The Bible says, "All of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing."(1 Peter 3:8-9) Brothers and sisters! Let's remember everyday that God has given us the right to choose how we will respond. We can wake up with whatever attitude we choose. We can respond to any given situation in whatever way we please.

For example, say you wanted to buy tickets to see your favorite band. You've waited in line for almost an hour, and just when you reach the ticket booth the "Sold Out" sign is put up. Stop. You immediately have to choose how to respond. Satan can use this against you. We must recognize that. If we instantly give in to our first initial feeling, we could be doing damage to ourselves. So decide how you will respond. You could kick and scream and grow more angry with every second that passes, but in all reality, it won't get that "Sold Out" sign taken down. You can try something different- choose to respond positively! You can shrug and say "Well, there's always next time."

Let me share something with you, when we choose to respond appropriately and not give in to the enemy, God can bless you in all sorts of ways. Don't let yourself fall into Satan's trap. Don't be a blessing blocker.

Try this out, and see how it works for you. I guarantee choosing to respond appropriately will behoove you every time.

God Bless,
Carlie
